This course emphasizes the fundamental concepts of remote sensing and the digital processing of satellite images.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Principles of remote sensing
Satellite and airborne sensors
Active and passive sensors
Principles of photointerpretation
The nature of the digital image – satellite data
Radiometric and Geometric Enhancement of Digital Images
Atmospheric correction
Image algebra, vegetation indices, and image filtering
Multispectral classification of satellite imagery (unsupervised and supervised)
Machine learning techniques for image classification
Assessment of classification accuracy.
