Maria Tsiapa (Ph.D.) is a Laboratory Teaching Personnel member specialising in Spatial Economics and Development in the Department of Planning and Regional Development at the University of Thessaly, Greece. Her research interests span the fields of production systems, industrial and trade development, foreign direct investment (FDI), economic geography, regional development, EU structural funds, transition economies, and Balkan studies. She has participated in numerous EU- and Greek-funded research projects and has published in various international refereed journals, including Regional Studies, Papers in Regional Science, Environment and Planning C, Journal of Productivity Analysis, and European Planning Studies.
