The overall objective of the course is to provide students with a complete understanding of how to describe/ visualize /represent existing or under planning three-dimensional forms of space in two-dimensional ways, whether these forms are buildings or constitute larger units extending into space. As the Department is planning oriented the students have to obtain a good basis for understanding the space in general.
The learning outcomes of the course are about acquiring knowledge concerning the conventional way of representing three-dimensional real (and under planning) space in two dimensions, understanding the vocabulary, symbols and scale of two-dimensional representation of space, application of the knowledge they have gained in the production of drawings and the synthesis of the knowledge they have acquired in the design of simple forms of urban and architectural composition.
Taking into account the general required competences of the graduates (as listed in the Diploma Supplement) the course contributes to the acquisition of the following::
– Search, analyze and synthesize data and information using the necessary technologies,
-Decision making,
– Independent work,
-Team working,
– Promoting free, creative and inductive thinking
The course consists of short lectures covering the necessary theory regarding the logic and vocabulary of architectural, planning and spatial planning and providing the necessary instruction for the following drawing exercises. The content of the course is structured as follows:
Evaluation Criteria | Determination of weight |
Projects/ Excercices | 50% |
Final exam 1 | 20% |
Final exam 2 | 30% |
Each task is evaluated according to the expected learning outcomes. Each week, the subjects that students have designed in the school’s drawing board are corrected and delivered to the beginning of the next lesson by highlighting their mistakes. Each of the exercises has a different degree of difficulty, resulting in a highly elaborate picture of each student’s progress at the end of the semester as the individual grades are aggregated.
The grades are announced promptly to the students and their mistakes are analyzed to improve their perception before the next.
The assessment system is sufficient, clear and aware of the students as it is analyzed in the cource’s outline n that is being distributed in the first lesson and is posted in the eclass.
All courses include an evaluation of the teachers, the educational process and the student assessment process. The evaluation process is carried out anonymously and electronically under the responsibility of the Secretariat and is completely transparent.
