Efthymia Sarantakou is an associate professor with the subject of “spatial policies for tourist destinations, tourist infrastructure and businesses”. at the Department of Tourism Management of the University of West Attica, where she teaches in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the department. She has a PhD in Spatial Planning of Tourism (NTUA). She studied Architecture and has an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning (NTUA). Additionally, she teaches in postgraduate programs, focusing on tourism development and the design of tourist destinations, at the Hellenic Open University, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Harokopio University. Her main research interests include spatial tourism planning, the design and management of tourist destinations, tourism governance, the design of tourist accommodations, urban tourism and heritage tourism. She was an executive of the Ministry of Tourism. Aegean, the Ministry of Environment, the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Ministry of Tourism in various positions of responsibility. She has significant research and writing activity in her fields of interest.
